Dr. Angelia Riggsbee is a 25 year survivor of domestic violence who has turned her pain into passion for helping other victims and survivors. Her beamish passion is her bright, cheerful and optimistic assignment to help others break the cycle of abuse.   As an Accounting Management Professional and College Instructor, she decided to pursue the highest level of education by merging  her expertise in business and domestic violence to successfully defend her doctoral dissertation entitled “Examining Perceptions of Domestic Violence and the Effects on the Workplace: A Synthesis of Selected Companies in North Carolina”.

Dr. Riggsbee’s fascinating work in her dissertation brings awareness to Corporate America, Organizations, and the Communities as a whole on the effects of domestic violence in the workplace.  As a result of her research, companies have developed domestic violence policies and internal training programs in addition to bringing awareness to the subject of domestic violence. As a result of Dr. Riggsbee's passion and fascinating work, HAD Healing After Domestic Violence (501C3) and HAD Consulting, LLC. were birthed.

Dr. Riggsbee is an experienced Instructor that has taught within the confounds of the highest and lowest level correctional facilities.  Her expertise in business and domestic violence combined with her deep passion results in her being an excellent trainer and public speaker.

Dr. Riggsbee has conducted trainings and been a featured speaker at various events at Duke University, The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, North Carolina Central University and other organizations within the triad area. In addition, Dr. Riggsbee has consulted with the United States Department of Defense to train military service personnel on domestic violence. On January 12, 2011, Dr. Riggsbee was honored as the City of Durham recipient of the Martin Luther King Jr. Humanitarian Award for her courageous and humbling domestic violence service.

Dr. Riggsbee has also served and been recognized as a member of the Mayor of Durham’s Domestic Violence Taskforce serving as Chairperson for the Youth Division.  In addition, Dr. Riggsbee has been a long standing member of the North Carolina Coalition Against Domestic Violence and the North Carolina Coalition Against Sexual Assault.   In addition, Dr. Riggsbee has volunteered with various agencies as such as Durham Crisis Response Center and Families Living Violence Free as a trained Counselor and Court Advocate.
